P/M Arthur Matthews

City of Maitland P&D is led by pipe major Arthur Matthews; Arthur learnt to play pipes as a ‘mature age’ student, with the City of Newcastle RSL Pipe Band, and later spent some time travelling to and from Sydney as a member of the City of Bankstown R&SL Pipe band until asked to become the tutor of City of Maitland P&D.

P/S Ian Innes

Ian, formerly Scottish—recently made a fair dinky-di Aussie; learnt to play in Scotland with one of the oldest civilian pipe bands still in existence, Ian came to Australia early in his piping career and was formerly the P/M of Maitland P&D, until stepping down mid-2009.

D/S Jenny Matthews

Jenny learnt to play snare drum at the City of Newcastle RSL Pipeband, later taking the opportunity to play in Bankstown R&SL no.2. Jenny is our very dedicated Drum Sergeant, and is always on the lookout for good drummers.
